TIMELINE
1859: Mass said in Catholic day school in Denny.
1861: Chapel-school opened 1st December.
1870: Denny becomes a separate charge from Falkirk.
1889: New chapel built in Stirling Street, immediately to the west of the old one, in Gothic style at a cost of £1400. Foundation stone laid 23rd July 1889. Church opened April 1890 and dedicated under the title of St. Alexander I, Pope and martyr. There was a gallery above the front entrance. Internally very ornate with a marble altar and an underground crypt.
