There was a considerable amount of new council housing constructed on the north side of Carronshore in the 1920s and 1930s and so a playing field was placed at the east end of Westerton Terrace. It was given a looped track and in the 50s playground equipment was installed by the Eastern No. 1 District Council. The 1970 aerial photograph shows the track and the locations of the slides and other playing structures.
