Rannoch Park

In the 1960s the town of Grangemouth rapidly expanded to the south in the Bowhouse area as far as the Rannoch Road.  An artificial overflow channel (relief drain) for the Grange Burn was created to channel surplus water to the River Avon and this was named the Rannoch Burn, although it is often noted as the Grange Burn on maps.  At the same time the M9 motorway was constructed along with the Beancross Road delimiting future growth in that direction.  Rannoch Park was inserted into the narrow corridor between the urban limit and these roads in the 1970s.  It features football pitches with a pavilion and well-surfaced paths and tree planting along its southern border.
