The playing fields in Valley Field at Westquarter were laid out by the Eastern No 2 District Council in 1955 as part of the King George V Scheme. The field had been purchased from Stirling County Council in 1952 in preparation. An engraved plaque was placed on each side of the two pillars at either side of the gate. It was officially opened in April 1955 and contained a football field and a children’s playground.
