St Mungo’s High School was designed by the Stirling County architect, A. J. Smith, in 1949, in association with the Scottish Orlit Co Ltd, and built in 1952/3. It was extended in a similar style by AJ Smith in 1958/9, this time in association with the Scottish Construction Co Ltd.

In 1972 large and practical flat-roofed additions were constructed by Stirling County Council with brown brick walls being dominant. By the turn of the millennium the building was showing signs of its poor construction and design.

A new school was built for Falkirk Council by Ogilvie Construction on the former playing fields and opened in 2009.
