The new Falkirk High School was officially opened by Falkirk Provost Pat Reid in 2017 as part of the Gateway Falkirk project to accommodate 1,600 pupils at a cost of £24.6 million. It was provided with a swimming pool, synthetic pitches to the south, fitness rooms and dance studios, which until 2023 were available for community usage. The design and construction was undertaken by Ogilvie of Stirling for Falkirk Council. The rooms were arranged around a large open quadrangle.
The site lay to the east of the previous high school and took in part of the playing fields of Bantaskin Primary School. The old school was subsequently demolished and is now covered by the housing of Fordyce Gardens and Mackay Gardens.
