The farmhouse of Crummocksteps stands right on a bend in the road from Denny to Fintry and the sundial occupies the skewput at this corner. It is set at an angle to the skew and has a square dial face with a stepped arched top of 18th century style.
The position of the sundial would have made it easy to read from the road and less so from the garden suggesting that it was set up to serve travellers.
