A curious incident happened at the end of December 1948 when the branch had its windows blown out in an explosion, caused by leaving a tin of adhesive too close to a fire. Workmen had been laying a sheet rubber floor. No one was hurt. The premises were purchased 1950. New counter sections installed 1954.
