on the corner of Major’s Place and Rennie Street

The large bungalow on the corner of Rennie Street and Major’s Place was designed for John W Blackadder, solicitor, Falkirk.  It is dominated by the red engineering brick plinth which extends around the main entrance and by the red Rosemary tiles.  The whitewashed render emphasises the tapering chimney stacks and the broad truncated half-timbered gable.  The upper floor of the gable oversails the canted bay windows below.  A bull’s eye window adds a familiar detail and a similar feature may also be found at the building at the top corner of the road.

Many features of this villa were also used for 3 Camelon Road.
